The largest and most important event in the hospitality, hotel and tourism industry in Romania the 9^th edition of TheTop Hotel Tourism & Leisure Investment Conference was held in Bucharest at the end of last month.

We’re talking about the 6^th edition of the Top Hotel Awards 2016 gala organized by the conference, an annual event that brings together important names in the hospitality and tourism industry, international and national hotel brands as well as experts in the hotel industry from Romania and abroad.

The event awards hotels, restaurants as well as travel agencies and professionals in the hospitality field of the domestic market that have distinguished themselves through remarkable contributions and extraordinary performances through assiduous efforts, innovations and long-term engagement.

This year’s event was held on the course of two days, May 26th and May 27th, the first day being dedicated to conferences and presentations on topics of interest in the hospitality industry.

The second day was the Top Hotel Awards 2016 ceremony day for the 5 main competition categories, namely: „Hotels, conferences”, „Investment”, „Leisure”, „Tourism” and „The Best Professional Accomplishment”.

With a total number of 77 of the 29 subcategories, let’s see which the best Romanian hotels of 2016 are.

Hotel of the Year – 5 stars category, affiliated to a hotel chain category winners:

• 1^st Place – Radisson Blue Hotel, Bucharest
• 2^nd Place – JW Marriot Bucharest Grand Hotel
• 3^rd Place – DoubleTree by Hilton, Oradea

Hotel of the Year – 5 stars category, unaffiliated to a hotel chain category winners:

• 2^nd Place – PRIVO Hotel, Târgu-Mureș
• 3^rd Place –Transilvania Hotel, Alba-Iulia
• 3^rd Place – Capital Plaza Hotel, Bucharest

For the Most Popular Hotel of the Year (economy and middle class hotels – 3 stars) the 1^st place winner was Hampton by Hilton Hotel from Cluj-Napoca, and the award for The Conference and Meetings Location of the Year went to The Kronwell Conference Centre of the Kronwell Hotel from Brașov.

The Hotel Opening of the Year award was won by Lotus Therm SPA&Luxury Resort, Baile Felix and the 1^st place for The Best Investment of The Year (hotel renovation/improvement) went to The Teleferic Grand Hotel, Poiana Brașov.
